Thoughts of a Crazy Black Woman II

Phoebe Burns surrounded herself by three wonder women at the Arts Alive Festival. We had recently celebrated her for winning an honor, and I was thrilled to see her powerful work in person. Young and dynamic, her work is reflective of her persona. I had to invite her to exhibit a sample of her soul work with Garden Spices. Gate open - Victorine

The Crown Act

Artist Statement: Art is not real. So I don't create art as if it is a physical illusion of the real world. I make art based on human life and emotions. Both of those ideas are very abstract. There is no definite way to depict human life because humans have their own individuality. This individuality does not respond to certain situations and ideas the same way. Human individuality is abstract and conceptual. My art tries to capture this individuality through concepts and experimentation. I use photography and mixed media to capture concepts in a conceptual and experimental manner in order to communicate a question. I communicate questions rather than answers because I cannot answer for others. People come to their own answers through questions.
