Madanlal was a strong and powerful businessman who was an expert in his industry. His community appreciated his knowledge of business and the way he built his empire. His wife, Mayavati, was very good as a homemaker and caregiver, and she was also a powerful administrator for the family business. The son, Mayur, was intelligent, loving, and kind person who also worked wholeheartedly for his father. His wife, Manasi, was the daughter of rich man, and she was highly educated, pretty, and very mature. She understood her family and their ways, and she worked with them in a compassionate way. Finally, Madanlal also had a daughter named Menaka. She was extremely strong-willed and was powerful in the family business. She was also quite selfish.
Madanlal’s family was very popular in their community. They commanded a wide circle of friends who appreciated each member of the family for their unique qualities. They maintained their status of acclaim until things started to go wrong. Mr. Madanlal lost his grasp of their business. He went into huge debt. Their popularity could not save them. No one from their circle of friends came to their aid. Instead, his colleagues were trying to save their own reputations and retain their own power. Day by day their condition became worse.
The wife, Mayavati, remained positive and tried to help. The son and his wife, Mayur and Manasi, were also working hard and taking on as many responsibilities and duties as possible. Because of their strife, the family began to turn against each other. The mother and daughter began to harass the daughter-in-law, Manasi. Although Manasi was upset, she did not tell her husband. He was not happy with their work situation either. Instead, she began to retreat to her room to avoid conflict. Finally, Mandanlal called a family meeting to discuss their situation. However, the meeting was not successful.
Eventually, Manasi went to her father and described the family crisis to him. She returned in the evening during dinner, and she brought a packet of money and checks to her father-in-law. All the family members were shocked. By sharing her father’s wealth, she saved her in-laws. Of course, they felt guilty about their mistreatment of Manasi, but it was a happy day.
During their plight with the business, all the family members displayed their own sense of power. So how do we judge the family members?
