Struck By a Lightning Bolt

I had just walked out of the door at my mother’s house and I heard what sounded like someone had lit four or five packs of firecrackers at the same time. So upon a quick scan, I saw no people anywhere but saw the tree in front of the house smoking with a branch hanging down. Then I realized that the tree had been hit by lightning and that the lightning had bounced off of the tree and was headed straight for me. I figured I couldn’t out run it so I stood there and just kept my eye on it.

When it got about arm’s length from me I could feel its presence. I could feel the heat, but it was a cold heat. The magnetic field was strong. All of a sudden, it began to dissipate back into the invisible from the visible. As it shrunk in size the edges, the outer skin of the lightening looked like an Amoeba, wiggling and moving as it fully disappeared.

My cousin was in the door the whole time observing and then came outside and asked, “Bobby, what was on your mind as you saw that lightening coming toward you?” I told him when I saw that lightning coming straight toward me I asked God, “ You mean this is the power that I have available to me at my beckoning will?” and God said, “Yes. YES!”

Over the years, I have come to know that power as the healing prospering power of the love of God. God’s love for me, and for every person walking the face of the planet. That’s some powerful stuff. The true power that fuels the universe. The power that makes it possible for us, you and I, to overcome ourselves and live. Remember that the only thing we experience in life is ourselves.

Through the power of the love that we are, we can love our way out of anything. As soon as we do that, we are healed. Simple but not easy. Doable yes but we have to exercise our power. I call our power our Dominion and Authority over ourselves. Most times we want to have dominion and authority over others but that is not where the real work is done. We want to get our work done, that we have the power to do, for that is what leads to “The Good Life” and Fulfillment. We want results. We can pontificate some other time. How might we use our power to love ourselves out of our current condition into a position like this?

We can love ourselves enough to be willing to feel differently about things. You know, the things that irritate us, get right up under our skin and then play out as a rash. We can love ourselves enough to think differently about ourselves. Know that we are deserving so that we can see the good in our lives. This is the power that is innate with us. We have the hookup, but we don’t use it.

In The Revealing Word by Charles Fillmore, a Unity Publication, power is defined as thus – “Man’s innate control over his thoughts and feelings.” If you didn’t get it I can break it down for you. My strongest gift. If you want to demonstrate your power over your life, control yourself!

“Creative power that is my consciousness, unlimited is your power.

Guide me in the fulfillment of that which I Am the same as I see it in

mind. Show me this day that everything’s done, when I think something

different remind me, strengthen me in making the righteous adjustment

to live life the way that I wrote it. The essence of me is the truth of my

being may I always be true to myself. For I Am creator, creation,

my health and my wealth; in my life there exists nothing else.”
