Patience – the capacity, habit, or being patient.

Patience –” 1. Bearing pains or trials calmly or without complaint. 2. manifesting forbearance under provocation or strain. 3. steadfast despite opposition, difficulty, or adversity. 4. able or willing to bear. ” Hasn’t it been a real surprise that we have developed many skills that we can draw on to assist us in traversing this life?

During the past two years of this COVID experience, we have not been able to move around at will. Everyone on the planet seems to have lost all sensibility. Customer service is a thing of the past. ‘People driving like they’re in the Indianapolis 500 but nowhere near as safely. And then there is the paradigm shift that most are unwilling to accept, thinking all things will return to a normal that no longer exists. So we are forced to exhibit patience with the shift, and more than that, patience with ourselves as we adjust to the different times.

Sure, I would love to make sense out of things. But, I mean, just attempting to deal with the “sick care” system is a joke. Nobody knows anything. You get wrong information from the Dr’s and their staff, and when you ask pointed questions as I do, they want to “cop a ‘tude,” or even worse, they want you to do their job for them. I think not. When I had a job and responsibility to clients and customers, I performed well. To think that I will receive service as I rendered is ludicrous. Ok, I’m there, but it still takes every bit of patience that I have to stay calm, especially when my health is at stake. I don’t even have to ask if your patience has been tried lately. I know that it has. But, I am really thankful for the patience that I do have.

One of my Dr’s jokes with me about my blood pressure never being high. Call’s me, “Mr nothing bothers you.” Of course, things do, but I call extra hard on the patience I have developed because once upon a lifetime, I had none. Still have none for stupid stuff, but not too much of that in my life anymore.

Let us look at the really big aspect of the patience that we have developed over time. We have learned to be patient with ourselves. No longer can I just power through things as I once was able to do. The snap decisions I once had to make now take a bit longer; each one carries so much more importance in my life. No longer “all the time in the world “anymore to make corrections and fix mistakes. Personally, patience allows me more time to contemplate, meditate and pray for direction, yielding much better results than running out all willy-nilly. Patience, I try never to leave home without it.
