Mi Casa, Su Casa: Space Saving Storage in the Kitchen

I have a small, open concept galley style kitchen. I absolutely love to cook and have tons of cooking gadgetry, tools, and ingredients. It is an ongoing challenge to have an orderly kitchen, but with everything you need accessible and visually pleasing.

Through trial and error, trolling cooking websites, lots of Amazon time, and frequent trips to Marshall’s, I’ve discovered some practical and aesthetically pleasing solutions. With my cooking arsenal visible, I always remember what I’m working with.

Knife storage-Don’t risk damaging or dulling your knives in a drawer,or have them taking up space in an unsanitary block on your counter. Elevate your knives to eye level and keep them sharp with a magnetic knife bar. Rather than drilling into my backsplash tile, I’ve attached my bar with a heavy-duty self-adhesive Velcro fastener.

Spice Storage-I would buy spices and promptly forget them in my kitchen drawer. All those bottles sitting in a drawer needed to be pulled out, one by one to identify their contents were cumbersome. This storage solution was perfect for me. These magnetic spice jars keep my spices orderly, and accessible and fit quite nicely in the unused space on the side of my fridge.

Dry goods storage-Free your dry goods from your cabinets and dress them up in glass containers on your counter. I can easily assess quantities for repurchase and I love the way the light reflects on the glass. You can even purchase glass salt containers!

Gadgets, tools, and kitchen towel storage-Baskets are a beautiful way to store your kitchen towels, cloths, and small tools. I found the perfect space on top of the fridge.

Cooking magazines and cookbooks-Acrylic magazine holders organize your collection while looking smart and stylish.

Handy measuring cups-I use measuring cups so frequently when cooking and need them at my fingertips. I purchased a small towel bar with an adhesive back along with small hooks to mount my cups behind the stove.

Nonrefrigerated produce-Did you know you should never refrigerate onions or potatoes? The multi-tiered storage basket easily houses your produce on the countertop.

Wine, wine, wine-Treat your good wines with respect and keep them cool and dry in a countertop version of a wine cellar. Not only is it practical but gives a certain ambiance to your kitchen.
