“Lord, Give Me Strength”

I was ready to write, but nothing was coming. I was wondering why. My writing methodology usually consists of me sitting down and pounding something out. Nothing was there. I started to feel a disturbance in the force but I knew not what. What I did feel was my strength, my freedom from weakness, my stability of character begin to gel and be unified in a manner I knew not of. For what purpose is this done?

Well when I heard Sabrina’s (My Pastor) ringtone at almost 2AM, I figured that I was about to find out why the energy of God, that which keeps me from doubting the TRUTH that I know, was in such a high gear. “Bob, Johnnie made her transition,” were the words that I heard. If the very strength of God that had imbued all of my being had not been pulsating throughout me, I would have possibly had a meltdown. See for me, it was my mentor, The Reverend Doctor Johnnie Colemon’s strength and courage that were an example to me showing that I had the same power within me. It was her strength that I stood with before I could stand with my own. It is this same strength, the capacity to accomplish, that I had to dig deep and demonstrate.  There were calls I had to make because some folk needed to hear it from me. It was this strength that I needed as all the folk came out the woodwork with things to say about Johnnie. I called on this strength when my close friends called for the Rev. Bobby perspective they have come to depend on; as they had to re-energize the strength within themselves.

The key is what gave me the strength that I needed. The strength came from the years of study I put in Reverend Colemon’s Better Living Program, The Teachers Training Program and of course Ministerial School, as I call it, (most might call it Seminary.) These activities I participated in were the catalyst that facilitated me being able to access my strength, my strength that is God.

I always marvel at the synchronicity in life. As I feel the strongest I’ve ever felt, my mentor and the mentor and teacher of many, transitions and places her legacy before the world. It is a legacy full of Truth Teachers, ministers, and healers, who live principled lives and demonstrate a quality of life that brings forth their best experience possible. I feel very honored, privileged and blessed to stand as a part of her legacy. And as far as the man, the minister that she would expect me to exemplify, all I can say is, “Lord give me strength.”
