Designs for Urban Comforts™ is about making choices to live your best life. For Rhonda Hardy this means engaging with the people, places, and things around her. It means making the best of every situation. As an artist, Rhonda uses fabrics and form to create beautiful items for the home. She also believes it is important to engage with others to help them see their dreams manifest. Using this philosophy has helped her through life, raising two sons, being active in her community, and being an entrepreneur.
Being president and lead designer for Designs for Urban Comforts™ gives her the opportunity to live her dream. The company started in 2015 as a way for Rhonda to celebrate. Her first design challenge was to create a collection of art dolls called the Bronzeville Babies Collection™ to commemorate Chicago’s African American history. From there she’s had the opportunity to work with homeowners to reinvent their living spaces. She assisted them with choosing colors, styles, and items that reflect their vision of a comfortable home. She’s also created handcrafted puppets and stories for youth to help them bring out their own imagination.
