Dedicated to Tyire Hassan Mitchell
By Tekla A. Syers

Dear Spirit Being,
I look into your eyes,
and I see more.
In the depths in your eyes
I recall my own Oneness
with All. I remember you
where and when
we had no names.
No hands. No feet.
No stuff.
I remember Oneness,
Love,
and Life
eternally.
Be not deceived
in this realm of senses.
You are more!
The evidence of your senses,
regardless of scale,
erodes. You endure.
You animated bits of matter
for your experience here,
and acquired a bit of amnesia
as to why you came.
In your journey
of discovery,
be not seduced
by the impermanence
of matter. It’s erosion
is not your fate.
You are more.
Even your forgetfulness
has not diminished
your capacity,
your Being in All.
Remember,
You have power and dominion
over your experiences.
Exercise them.
You are forever
One with All.
Thank you,
Glorious Spirit Being.
My glimpse
into your eyes,
your boundless
expression of joy,
remind me
of my own glorious identity.
Remember
what you are.
You are more.
