Creating a Relationship of Earth Stewardship with the Earth

Listening to the river

Listening to the river’s song

You can feel the river

Come and dance along.

This is my feeling of Earth Stewardship.  The energies of the natural world are just beginning to be understood in new ways by science.  If we enter the gateway to the Oneness of nature, we can begin to understand more, which can guide a different more intimate relationship with the Earth itself.  Perhaps a simple way to express this is to see oneself as an Earth Steward. All of my poetry of late seems to be contemplatively expressing that understanding and relationship, which presently I know is not the common perception.

WHAT IS EARTH STEWARDSHIP?

  1. Being in harmony (intimate) with nature (understanding, seeing, feeling nature’s Oneness)

  1. Seeing the Mystery of nature

  1. Grasping the divinity of nature, of the Earth.

  1. Seeing oneself as a part of rather than a part from the planet.

  1. Being, however one can, a caretaker and steward of nature.

**Science and Western religion at one point in history disassociated us from nature to be only observers of the natural world.  That outlook still persists with many; however, it is beginning to change with the awareness of Climate Change and other work, both scientific and religious around the world.

Things that inspire me:

Learning in a variety of ways, literary, analytic, experimental, communicational and being compassionate.

Creative endeavors, such as art, music, poetry, and dance. Hiking in the woods or in nature.  Feeling the energy of oneness in nature that is not felt in the city.  Strumming on the guitar and composing poetic verses.

The spirit of oneness in my experience.  The connection between different facets of my experience, such as visual colors, harmonies, nature and language.  Spirituality is sensing my world as both.
