Catch Up with Field's Wings and Things!

Yes, it's a food truck, and if you want delectable smoked foods, you best locate Fields Wings & Things. I successfully caught Fields at About Your Hair in Florence, AL. I wanted fish, and I ended up with exceptional fish, crisp and flaky. What I did not expect was the story I heard from Terriron Fields, the owner. He told me he knew my late husband, Bob, and how Bob Impressed and inspired him. I was impressed with the quality of the food and the exceptional service at Fields Wings & Things. They truly make you feel like a valued customer.

While Bob may have been a later inspiration, Terriron found his passion for cooking at an early age by watching his grandmother. Fields spent his early childhood in Sheffield, AL, where he often cooked for his family. "Grandma got sick," Fields recounted. "That's when I really started cooking." He found himself on the home grill during the holidays, and in high school, he worked at Miles Cafe in Muscle Shoals, AL.

Fields worked the fryer at Miles and noted he had two mentors. "I watched Rayshawn and Pam; I learned from them." He moved on to Princeton, a popular restaurant in Florence, AL. "I worked in the kitchen," noted Fields. "I experienced the back end of the restaurant business, but I had no training. I'm self-taught."

Beyond working in restaurants, Fields was cooking and catering from home. However, as soon as ordinances were passed to do a food truck, Fields knew he wanted one. "I had an RV but eventually got a truck. " The menu was the attraction. "I smoke all my meats," Fields indicated. "I also knew loaded food recipes would be good." Fields explained the authentic taste when I asked about his Jerk items, particularly the jerk-loaded potatoes. "My wife's brother's girl is from. Africa, and she knew about cooking the Caribbean jerked food," Fields explained. "That's where I learned recipes. I put a lot of heart and soul into my food."

Startia Fields works right along with her husband. "She's at the front while I'm cooking." You can catch them for scheduling on Facebook, and they also cater and have a smoker to rent. Fields and his "beautiful" wife currently work the food truck part-time on weekends, but they are filled with hope for the future. They aspire to be a full-time business, serving their delicious food to a wider audience. They say service is king, but with Fields, Startia's smile is your invitation to great service. She shines!
